Guaranty Trust Bank (Rwanda) Plc donates sewing machines to women in Nyampinga Ushoboye Project
At Guaranty Trust Bank, we believe in growing and sustaining the value of our business by giving back to our host communities. This is why Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a major component of the Bank’s strategy and business activities. GTBank Rwanda’s CSR activities are focused on promoting education and sports, fostering community development, promoting arts and culture and protecting the environment. Through these activities, the Bank seeks to make profound positive impact on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and other members of the public.
Located in Gahanga Sector, Kicukiro, the Nyampinga Ushoboye is a social project founded by Grace Uwizeyimana with the objective of empowering vulnerable teen mothers to achieve economic independence and improve their overall economic well-being. The sewing machines donated will facilitate the Project’s goal of advancing the financial profile and economic well-being of 62 women who have obtained training and skills in tailoring but lack the financial wherewithal to procure sewing machines and other necessary materials to commence business.
After donating the machines, staff of the Bank also spent the evening interacting with the teen mothers, the founder, and learning more about the Project.
Guaranty Trust Bank (Rwanda) plc will continue its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives as it is one of the 8 Orange Rules of the Bank and a medium through which the Bank gives back to the society and lifts the quality life of the less privileged and economically disadvantaged.“This is a dream made a reality! We didn’t know where we could get these sewing machines and we waited for them for so long. These machines are going to be a source of our livelihood. We greatly appreciate our donor” said Laurence, one of the Project beneficiaries.
